Check out photos of Lilly running the race below.
The Boston Marathon took a great deal of bravery and motivation given the conditions, as runners were forced to endure sweltering heat with 80-degree temperatures.
Lilly donned a blue and orange checkered singlet to show her dedication to the Miles for Miracles team running on behalf of Children's Hospital Boston. Lilly alone managed to raise almost $20,000 for the cause and finished the race in 4 hours, 27 minutes and 45 seconds.
But for some runners, there was more on the line than the honor of completing all 26.2 miles in front of them. Some, such as former American Olympic soccer player Kristine Lilly, were determined to run for a good cause.
The 40-year-old former Olympian is best known as the "Queen of Caps," as she leads all men's and women's international soccer players in appearances with 352.
