Backstage Grooming Report - Band of Outsiders

Sternberg’s directive to the makeup artist Dick Page was to create a natural look, which Page did by using one key product — Shiseido Men’s Anti-Shine Refresher Gel — to even out tone and create skin that appears as if it’s been exposed to heat and sun. “I’m focused on mostly matting them out, to keep faces looking dry and real,” Page said. Thin and unruly brows were combed with a dab of Shiseido’s Shimmering Creme Eye Color in Caviar for understated shine and polish. Just minutes before they were sent down the runway, the male models were scanned by Page and “hit with a little bit of bronzer, if necessary. The goal is to make them look believable NHL Jerseys, not made up.”

It took traveling to Mexico City and rewatching the director Sergio Leone’s “Dollar Trilogy” for this season’s inspiration to click together for the designer Scott Sternberg. “I just felt it was time for me to do a little take on western, with a bit of Mexican influence,” Sternberg said. “There’s a hint of cowboy in my guys. Picture them coming off a mesa or range. They should look like themselves, honest and straightforward.”

Using Bumble and Bumble’s Thickening Spray and Surf Spray, the hairstylist Duffy coaxed an extra-matte, almost rough feel out of hair for an overworked, dried-out effect — “a dusty finish to reflect the desert landscape NHL Jerseys,” as he put it. “I’m using 90 Percent Thickening Spray as the styling agent NHL Jerseys, and 10 Percent Surf Spray to finish the look. I’m creating the dust by simply overloading product.”
