Guerlain Rose Piquant Rouge G Lipstick

Guerlain Rose Piquant Rouge G Lipstick

The Glossover

It has a fair amount of pigmentation, but there is a lot of translucency. It doesn’t apply as evenly as other Rouge Gs do, though it’s consistent with the other three shades from spring. It doesn’t have the same feel or look as the Rouge G line–it’s much more like the Brilliant formula, because it has a lot more slip and a glossier finish. The richer, more opaque color and creamier consistency is missing. It only wears about two and a half hours on me, and I normally see at least four, often six, with this formula. I’m still bummed over how different these spring shades turned out to be from the rest of the formula.

The texture is soft and very slick; it glides on fairly easily, but it reaches that level of slip where the color moves around too readily and causes uneven color deposit.  It’s moisturizing, but it doesn’t seem as moisturizing as many other shades of Rouge Gs have been. I don’t know if it’s because it wears off so much more quickly that gives an illusion of lesser hydration.

Guerlain Rose Piquant Rouge G Lipstick ($48.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a a soft yellow-toned pink with a soft, frosted finish and a fair amount of shine. It makes my lips look pinker and shinier. Dior Pinky Mauve is very similar, slightly yellower. Estee Lauder Mauve Mirage looks very close Coach Outlet, just more opaque. Dior Pearly Pink is darker. Chanel Charme is also similar with more of a frosted finish than a glossy one.

NARS Montego Bay Pure Matte Lipstick

The Pure Matte formula is designed to be opaque and long-wearing in a base that glides on and wears comfortably–it also contains wild mango butter to moisturize lips. I found this particular shade to be creamier than most of the Pure Mattes, and this resulted in a noticeable sheen to the finish, though these are supposed to be “perfectly matte.” It helps the color glide on and apply evenly, but it wears four hours or so before it really begins to fade. The color itself is nearly opaque and delivers good color coverage without a lot of product.

NARS Montego Bay Pure Matte Lipstick

The Glossover

NARS Montego Bay Pure Matte Lipstick ($25.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “rose pink.” It’s a soft pink with just a hint of coral to me–it has the warmth and lightness of pink but not the brightness of your typical coral. Montego Bay is muted without being dull or overly dusty and pale. It is, though, on the lighter side, so the creaminess in the texture is more noticeable.  I can see this color looking a little different depending on skin tone and natural pigmentation of the lips–it may look pinker on some, more coral on others.  It’s a little darker than MAC Ever Hip, pinker than MAC Gem of Roses, darker than Giorgio Armani #507, and more opaque than Shiseido PK327.

Pure Mattes are mostly matte without being drying or uncomfortable to wear and deliver excellent color coverage with little product. It could be a touch more moisturizing over the time it wears, but for a matte, achieving “not drying” status is good.

Mally Roncal

ELLE: What part of the face do people have the most questions about?
MR: Number one, the skin. How to make my skin look flawless? How do I get that glow? I look so tired, my skin is so sallow….All those tips and tricks about getting that perfect complexion. That one I get number one. Number two is almost always about eyes. How do I look like I had an eyelift? How do I get a natural look so my eyes look awake? How do I look finished and polished? So those would be the two that are the most popular. A very close third is, How do I contour my face?

Click here to RSVP for a spot in the master class.

ELLE: What’s the biggest difference between the advice you give to the celebrities you work with and the advice you give to “real women”?
MR: It’s less about making a statement and more about giving people tools and ideas to make them look and feel as fierce as they’ve ever looked. When you’re doing a fashion show or somebody for a red carpet, you want to make them look beautiful but you want to make a little bit of statement so [their photo runs] online and in magazines. It’s less trendy and more about really educating everyday women.

ELLE: Are there any beauty tips that we hear over and over that actually drive you crazy?
MR: Matching foundation to their face, because it’s always wrong, it’s always too light. You have to match your foundation either on the lower part of your neck or your collarbone so that it’s one tone. You don’t want your face to be lighter than your body! And in the same breath, it’s that yucky, nasty translucent powder that I cannot believe in 2012 women are using to mattify their face. Because it’s disgusting and is making everybody look like Casper the Friendly Ghost.

ELLE: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
MR: I have to tell you, ironically, it has nothing to do with makeup. It’s to smile. Believe it or not, you can have 50 pounds of makeup on, you can have no makeup on, [but] if you just smile and treat everybody with the kindness you want to be treated with, that emanates more beauty than any eyeliner or lipstick can do to you.

ELLE: Quick: You have five minutes to get ready, what do you do?
MR:
Concealer, eyebrows, mascara coach outlet, blush, and gloss. Concealer covers up the dark circles, the brow lifts your brow and gives you a beautiful look, mascara opens your eyes, blush makes you look alive coach outlet, and you can’t go wrong with pink [gloss].

ELLE: The term “master class” always sounds so serious—will this be your version of beauty boot camp?
Mally Roncal: I think I approach the master class a little differently than most. I am all about love and acceptance and family and really treating each and every one of my Mallynistas—as we call them—as part of my family. It’s usually the big, bad Wizard of Oz standing in front of people, telling them exactly what to do and what products to use and, “My word is law!” And while, yes coach outlet, I certainly have a very particular point of view with my makeup and application, I also still love to talk to the customer. This is not by any stretch of the imagination a master class that’s going to be scary. It’s not going to be like an algebra class. I went to [a master class] once and after was like, ‘He took away the fun from makeup coach outlet! How is that possible?’ As a celebrity makeup artist I have a lot of stories behind the products and why I created what I created. It’s about fun, eating, drinking, application, lots of Q-and-A, lots of me pointing out different techniques to the customer. So it’s really just a big party!

Mally Roncal usually dishes out her beauty advice to a bevy of big-name clients, but this week you don’t need to be Beyonce, Rihanna, or Hayden Panettiere (to name just a few of the famous faces she works with) to learn her favorite tricks. The makeup artist is hosting a master class at Henri Bendel in New York City on Thursday, with both group and one-on-one sessions being offered. In between filming QVC segments for her own product line, Mally, and enjoying an abnormally warm spring afternoon with her daughter, Roncal spoke with ELLE.com about what to expect from her class and why you need to put down the translucent powder.

And to get your festival fashion fix, be sure to check out our upcoming Street Chic report for the best looks from both weekends of Coachella.

For more information on the full lineup, set times, and more, click here.

Jimmy Cliff
Known for classic tracks like “Sittin’ in Limbo,” “You Can Get It If You Really Want Coach Outlet,” and “Many Rivers to Cross,” as well as the soundtrack for iconic 1972 film The Harder They Come, reggae legend Jimmy Cliff is filling Coachella’s celebrated veteran’s spot this year.  Pre-dating Bob Marley popularization of reggae, Cliff is fresh off his induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and going strong as a staple on the outdoor concert circuit this year.  This weekend, he’ll showcase new music from his upcoming collaboration with Rancid’s Tim Armstrong (LP out in June).

From impressive headliners—The Black Keys, Radiohead, Dr. Dre and Snoop—to a top-notch group of alternative stars—Bon Iver, Jeff Mangum, Santigold Coach Outlet, Feist, St. Vincent, Beirut, Florence + the Machine—and an unprecedented range of dance music—DJs Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, and David Guetta, this year’s Coachella lineup is bursting with so much talent it’s guaranteed to live up to the hype. On the eve of the (first) weekend’s kickoff, we’re weighing in on a few sleeper hits and choice performances that deserve a spot on your radar.

Frank Ocean
Cited as the next big act to bridge classic R&B with smart, edgy hip-hop (a la Drake and Kanye West), the singer/songwriter is the one to watch on Friday night. After joining hip-hop collective Odd Future (led by rapper/producer Tyler Coach Outlet, the Creator) and releasing his mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra through Tumblr in early 2011, the Louisiana native was tapped to collaborate on Beyoncé’s 4 as well as Kanye West and Jay Z’s Watch the Throne.  Go for Ocean’s signature mix of smooth, savvy lyrics and samples from the likes of MGMT and the Eagles; stay for a preview of new material from his first major-label album, set to drop any day now.

Fitz and the Tantrums
Sure, we’ll champion the merits of a good fist-pumping techno set or a quality electronica groove session, but when it comes to really getting down on the dance floor, nothing beats Motown. For a change of pace come Sunday afternoon, look to Fitz and the Tantrums, the six-piece Los Angeles band that’s earned plenty of buzz for their modern, New Wave-inspired take on classic ’60s soul and funk sounds. Powerhouse vocals from Noelle Scaggs and frontman Michael Fitzpatrick will have you moving like Marvin Gaye in no time.
If there’s one thing Coachella never fails to deliver Coach Outlet, it’s an array of awesome reunion performances, and this year is no exception: whatever your persuasion—from the hazy, dazzling Mazzy Star, postpunk fIREHOSE, ’90s British pop royalty Pulp and the enigmatically orchestral Godspeed You! Black Emperor to hardcore proto-punk legends At The Drive In and Refused—there’s bound to be someone you’ve been waiting for.

The Kooples Heading Stateside

PARIS—I popped into The Kooples on rue St. Honore after Valentino this afternoon to try and find something to wear to tonight’s Crazy Horse revue and cheap coach bags, like everyone in Paris, the sales clerk wanted to guess where I was from.

Spain? No.  Russia? No.  “New York cheap coach bags!” I said.  “Ah cheap coach bags! New York! We love New York!”

Photo: The Kooples

Turns out he wasn’t just speaking for himself, but for the brand.  He said the store’s set to open up shop in both New York and Los Angeles in “the next couple of months.”  No word yet on where cheap coach bags, but given the excitement over Paris’ most recent imports—Sandro and Maje—we can only imagine the excitement with which the official announcement will be met.

Almost Like Mud Wrestling with Mark Ruffalo

Photo: Kiehl's

With a crop of new celebrity ambassadors, Kiehl’s is offering a colorful new way to detoxify your skin while decluttering Mother Earth.

Starting in April, the celeb-approved product will feature labels designed by each personality. Our favorite is Mark “Bedroom Eyes” Ruffalo’s, whose image depicts a teardrop-shaped earth representing his own green initiative, Water Defense.

As for the masque itself http://coachoutlet.altervista.org/, Kiehl’s secret ingredient is Amazonian White Clay, a mineral rich sediment that removes dirt, oil and the dead cells that can enlarge pores.  So whether you buy a jar to save the world http://coachoutlet.altervista.org/, express your love for Mark Ruffalo, or just to minimize those pores http://coachoutlet.altervista.org/, it’s worth those $23.

In conjunction with Recycle Across America http://coachoutlet.altervista.org/, the skincare company has partnered with Florence Welch, Mark Ruffalo, Rosario Dawson and more to create limited-edition jars of Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque ($23), sales of which will promote earth awareness at K-12 schools.
